Fully funded, finally : Cornerstone Community Church uses digital giving

Founded in 2004, Cornerstone Community Church (CCC) is a young cathedral located in the rural mountains with Virginia, meeting in a switched downtown storefront. In a location with a population less than 7,000, finances have been a struggle for the growing church.

Here, Contribute Pastor Mike Morris recalls a current change that has helped CCC not just meet its monthly pay off 2017, but exceed it.

Last summertime, our church decided arrived to revamp our on-line giving. Until that point, most people offered a solution that only given ACH bank account giving for an option – cumbersome, complex, and only a few families inside the church used it.

After an extensive examination of different online giving systems, we chose Tithe.ly as our own new provider. We were a good number of impressed by the ease of giving it supplied via mobile devices. We also enjoyed that this solution charged virtually no monthly fees. So, it was an effortless decision for our administrative squad.

We launched the new service inside September 2016, with positive results. We’ve got six months of use to help individuals identify new trends. Some examples are:

A significant ramp-up in online providing = more consistent kindness. Our church is a little strange in that the first quarter is commonly our lowest quarter, economically. Our giving starts choosing back in summer, but some of our biggest slump is the 1st three months, with January representing the lowest point.

After launching all of our new online giving podium, we quickly saw the giving trends change. We currently see 34% of all giving take place online, which is a big enhance from our previous solution. A further positive benefit is that 41% in our online giving is recurring giving, which makes it much more consistent out of week to week.

After the very first quarter, the church can be ahead of budget by 2 full weeks – a far more than 5 percent improvement than the previous year. It’s also initially the church has lots of people ahead of budget during the initially quarter!

Increased giving per guy. Our attendance has been constant over the past couple of years, which means providing per person has increased. The normal gift size through Tithe.ially is $162, which shows that people are using this tool for their tithes, not just regarding smaller gifts.

More money regarding ministry. Based on the current average pertaining to 2017, we should exceed our yearly budget by $30,000. As well as, if we take into account the increased supplying for the third and fourth quarter, we have been on track to exceed our own budget by more than $50,A thousand! For a church our measurement, that’s a huge blessing.

The improved giving will allow us to carry out two things. First, we can pay off the mortgage on the facility. This will free up extra income for ministry and mission initiatives.

Second, this budget surplus allows us to expand the staff. To be a church averaging about 3 hundred people in attendance with a couple Sunday services, I’m really the only full-time staff member, serving as lead pastor. We’ve wanted to expand some of our staff for several years, but the insufficient funds has prevented using the services of another part- or full-time staff individual.

We’re pleased with the consistent amplified giving we’ve seen since using a more robust online delivering solution. I’d recommend almost all church leaders think about building mobile giving more available to their congregation.
